Why we're obsessed with DIY Escape Rooms

We started making escape rooms for each other to play at home, and now we've designed over 100!

Before MysteryLocks was even an idea, we discovered escape room games in all possible formats. When we ran out of games to play, we started creating our own.

Solving escape room puzzles using things we found around the house, we had hours of fun! So we want you to feel the same thrill without leaving your home.

I never played a real Escape Room. Will I be able to play?

You don't need any prior experience to play an escape room at home.

Each game includes instructions and answer sheets, as well as an intuitive gameplay.

Do I need a game master to supervise the game?

All of our games have an intuitive, linear gameplay.

No master is needed to guide the game.

I have a large group I want to prepare the game for. How many can play the game at once?

What we love about our games is the versatility.

Have a large group? Split it into small teams (we suggest up to five, but it's totally up to you).

Print a set of materials for each group, and you're good to go!

If I set up the game, will it spoil the game for me?

Setting up the game does not spoil the game in any way!

Feel free to join the game, as you're in for some great fun!

I have locks, chests, and props on hand. Can I integrate them into the experience?

Adding extra layers of complexity is always a nice touch!

All our games allow adding props, numeric locks and chests.

But as all our games are designed to be self-contained, you don't need any additional props or equipment to play.

But if you have them, you can certainly use them to make the game more fun and exciting!

Do I need to use card stock for printing?

All our games are designed for regular printing paper.

Want to go the extra mile to create a higher quality experience? Printing on card stock definitely offer the games a great look and feel!

How do I download the game?

Right on the order completion page you receive the download links for the files instantly.

To keep them safe, a copy of the download links is also delivered to your email.

Does the game end after 60 minutes?

Unlike real-life escape rooms, printable escape rooms are not time-limited.

You can take as long as you need to complete the game.

This means you can play at your own pace, take breaks if you need to, and come back to the game whenever you're ready.

Very cute idea! My husband and I printed it out and went over the puzzles beforehand. We had a 9, 11 and 13 year old participating and looking over the puzzles, we realized it wouldn't take them long to figure out so we made it into a treasure hunt as well. They had to find the puzzles according to our riddles and then solve the puzzle to move forward so all in all, it took about 45 minutes or so to do the whole thing and they LOVED it! It was really nice to do during Covid. It was delivered immediately, printing was easy.

Decent but too hard without the work through page

I purchased this for a 4th grade Halloween party. I think it's such an awesome product! The quality of the images and variety of puzzles is wonderful. I printed and laminated 4 copies and broke the class into 4 groups so they could work together. I will say, some groups of kids did fine and some needed a lot of hints and assistance. But they all enjoyed it and I was so thrilled to find something more age appropriate as we've done a lot of the same activities over the years. For those wanting something more unique and challenging for a school party, I highly recommend. I will be purchasing more both for school parties and for home entertainment as we love logic puzzles! There's a lot of versatility in what you can do to make this extra fun, but it's also great as is.

I did the escape room first to make sure I could help my kids in case they needed it. I did have to look at a couple of the answers to see if I was doing it correctly. The kids are going to love it!
